6 new product recalls have been announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) over the past week including recalls for hard hats, HP batteries, and room sensors.

Octopus Rattles

Around 550 octo-rattles are being recalled by The Land of Nod. The fabric discs on the tentacles of the octopus’ rattles can detach, ultimately posing a choking hazard to young children. There have been 5 reports of the rattles discs detaching, however no injuries have been reported. Consumers should immediately take the recalled rattles away from children and contact the company for a refund. The product was manufactured in India. {See the recall}

Room Sensors

Ecovent is recalling their Room Sensors due to a possible shock hazard. The cover can come off during normal use, exposing high voltage components, ultimately posing an electrical shock hazard. 600 products are being recalled, and there have been 2 incidents reports of the faceplate falling off, but no injuries have been reported. Evovent has contacted consumers by email and phone, but if you have not been notified, contact the firm immediately. The product was manufactured in Child and the U.S. {See the recall}

Hard Hats

Company 3M has placed a recall on 7,500 hard hats sold online. The product was marketed to protect against electric shock, but tdo not provide this protection, posing a shock hazard to consumers. No injuries have been reported, but consumers who did purchase the hat should immediately stop using the product and contact the company for a replacement. Electric Bottle and Food Warmers

About 255,000 electric bottle and food warmers are being recalled due to the possibility that the warmers can overheat and catch on fire posing a fire hazard to consumers. There have been 6 reports of the bottle and food warmers overheating, melting, smoking and catching on fire. This product was manufactured in China. {See the recall}

Batteries for HP and Compaq Notebook Computers

HP lithium-ion batteries are being recalled as the battery packs can overheat, posing both a fire and burn hazard to consumers. About 41,000 units, in addition to around 2,600 sold in Canada and 4,500 sold in Mexico and being recalled. There have been 7 reports of battery packs overheating, melting or charring. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled batteries, remove them from the notebook computers and contact HP for a complimentary replacement battery. Hanging Bow Scales

October Mountain has recalled their hanging bow scales due to the mounting ring on scales can break during use, posing impact and laceration hazards to the user. Around 640 products are being recalled, as the firm has received 4 reports of the scale breaking, one resulting in laceration to the hand. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled hanging bow scales and contact October Mountain Products to receive a full refund. The product was manufactured in China. {See the recall}
