Volkswagen announced that about 800,000 of its SUVs are being recalled as a precaution to address a potential problem with the bearing block of the pedal system. The affected vehicles are the 2011-2016 Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne SUV. Tests performed internally at Volkswagen showed that the retaining ring in the bearing block of the pedal system would become loose and pose a safety risk.

The carmakers themselves plan on contacting consumers directly about the recall. Consumers will need to take their vehicle in to be examined and to make sure that the retaining ring was installed properly. The issue addressed by the recall does not appear to have caused any problems for drivers.
