Another wrong-way driver, this time in Mesa, Arizona, caused a crash, seriously injuring another driver in the late evening of Tuesday, July 15th. The wrong-way driver has been identified as Erin May Corona, 33, of Peoria, Arizona.

Several witnesses contacted 911 to report a sedan driving east on Loop 202 West in Mesa, beginning a few minutes before the crash around 10 p.m. Corona drove several miles before slamming into oncoming traffic, leaving another driver with serious injuries, including a broken leg. The victim was taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn.

Corona was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, criminal damage, and endangerment. Authorities are currently investigating whether Corona was driving under the influence. Corona admitted to officials that she had been drinking before the collision and has a previous record of driving under the influence. She is being held on $50,000 bond. There have been several recent wrong-way drunk driving crashes in the greater Phoenix area.
