The westbound 210 Freeway through Pasadena is about to undergo major construction this weekend.  All lanes will be closed at the split of the 134 starting Friday night at 10:00pm and will reopen Monday morning at 5:00am. Ramp closures at Marengo Avenue, Mountain and Walnut streets will also be under construction.

This is all in part of a $148 million pavement rehabilitation project for both directions of the 210 in Glendale, La Canada Flintridge and Pasadena. It is noted that the work is scheduled to wrap up in 2018, with Caltrans promising a “smoother, safer drive for motorists” and less closures in the future.

Luckily for motorists traveling west will still have access to the 134 freeway; however those needing to stay on the 210 will have to ultimately switch over to surface streets.  According to Caltrans, people are advised to stay away from the area completely and if necessary, use public transportation whenever possible.  Additionally, a second closure is scheduled to begin on Friday July 29th.
