Three women, all related, are dead after being hit by a suspected drunk driver while crossing the street in Anaheim late Saturday, February 9th. Residents in the area have previously complained about traffic in the neighborhood.

Carmen Mendoza, 56, her daughter Sheyla Mendoza, 21, and her niece Stephanie Henriquez, 21, were leaving a baby shower on Saturday night, around 11:00 p.m. Crossing the street in the 100 block of South Western Avenue in Anaheim, they were struck by a Honda Civic driven by Anthony Lewis Sanchez, 40. Sanchez was arrested and is being held on charges of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

According to nearby residents, the women were crossing the street in an area bereft of crosswalks or speed bumps.
