A woman, allegedly high on crystal meth, driving a reportedly stolen SUV, ran a red light, causing a crash that killed one and injured several others in Fresno on the morning of Thursday, August 14th. The deceased victim has been identified as Matthew Harkenrider, 26, of Clovis. The collision occurred at the intersection of Fresno Street and Herndon Avenue just before 7 a.m.

A red Kia SUV, driven by Roberta Soto, 45, of Kingsburg, reported stolen out of Kingsburg, was traveling north on Fresno Street when it ran a red light, slamming directly into a silver car, driven by Harkenrider, heading west on Herndon Avenue. The powerful collision sent Harkenrider’s car flying into three other vehicles stopped at the red light. Harkenrider died at the scene from his injuries. Six other victims were treated for minor to moderate injuries.

Authorities at the scene found Soto holding a bag of methamphetamine. She was taken to the hospital for her injuries and will be taken to Fresno County Jail upon her medical release. She was arrested on charges of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
