A motorcyclist hit a curb after losing control of his bike, ejecting him into traffic on the 110 Freeway in Los Angeles late Monday, August 5th. He was subsequently struck by numerous vehicles and died at the scene. The accident occurred around 11:15 p.m.

The accident occurred on the Vernon Avenue offramp of the 110 Harbor Freeway. The motorcyclist, only identified as a 53-year-old man from Compton, veered left and struck a curb, causing him to be thrown from his motorcycle. He was struck several times by oncoming traffic.

The accident caused mayhem. One driver who hit the motorcyclist lost cont control of his vehicle and struck a guardrail. Another vehicle, a 2002 Lexus RS300, hit the motorcyclist and fled the scene. The 49-year-old driver from Hawthorne was later arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.

The Vernon Avenue offramp and 110 North 3 and 4 lanes were closed for investigation, triggering a SigAlert. All lanes were reopened at 2:18 a.m. Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
