Fatal Truck Accident Closes 60 Freeway

Last Friday, the eastbound 60 freeway near the 57 was closed through evening rush hour after a truck and semi-truck hit each other, which caused a second semi-truck to hit both vehicles and overturn. One driver was killed, and two other drivers sustained serious injuries. Spilled fuel and bananas from the semi-trucks littered the highway, causing a traffic backup for eight miles. It took over half a day for the freeway to fully reopen.

Runaway Dump Truck Strikes Metro Bus

In Hollywood on Tuesday, as many as 33 people were injured after a driver-less runaway dump truck rolled down a hill and smashed into a Metro bus. The bus driver attempted to avoid the truck, and ultimately swerved in to oncoming traffic, colliding with a car carrying a woman and her daughter. The woman was trapped in her vehicle for 20 minutes before being rescued and sustained serious injuries. Her daughter was able to escape the vehicle after the accident and was in fair condition. 30 bus passengers and the bus driver sought medical treatment.

It is currently unknown how or why the dump truck rolled down the hill and is currently under investigation. Hollywood Blvd near Stanley Avenue is expected to be closed for hours.
