There are 4 new reports by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) regarding product recalls this week. They include: children’s jewelry, children’s water bottles, and floor lamps.

Things Remembered: Children’s Jewelry

Things Remembered has recalled their silver bracelets and charm necklaces for children because the surface coating on both products contain an excess amount of lead. The lead contained in the clean surface coating is far beyond the legal limit, and if ingested, a child is in danger of significant health issues. About 6,700 bracelets and 3,300 necklaces have been recalled. Luckily, no injuries or incidents have been reported. Consumers should immediately take the recalled jewelry away from children and contact the company for a full refund. {See the recall}

GSI Outdoors: Water Bottles

Kids’ insulated water bottles are being recalled by GSI Outdoors due to another lead violation. The lead solder at the exterior base of the bottle contains high levels of lead, and if ingested can cause serious health issues. About 6,700 units have been recalled, involving 5 different styles of the insulated water bottles. The item identification number 297684 is printed on a sticker at the bottom of the bottle for consumers to properly recognize the product. No incidents or injuries have been reported, but consumers should stop using the water bottles immediately and contact L.L. Bean for a full refund. {See the recall}

Clorox Liquid Plumr Clog Remover

Three types of Liquid Plumr Clog Remover have been recalled by Clorox because the company failed to meet child-resistant closure requirements. Liquid Plumr® Pro-Strength Foaming Clog Fighter®, Liquid Plumr® Industrial Strength Urgent Clear® and Liquid Plumr® Pro-Strength Urgent Clear® clog removers have all been recalled. The Poison Prevention Packaging Act requires that packages containing sodium hydroxide, be sealed with child-restraint packaging. The bottles are not child-resistant, making it easy for a child to remove the top and become exposed to hazardous chemicals. If a child is exposed to these chemicals, it can result in a severe chemical burn and irritation to the skin and eyes. About 5.4 million units are being recalled, with 8 incidents reported, but no injuries. Consumers should keep this recalled product away from children and immediately contact The Clorox Company’s Liquid Plumr call center for disposal and refund instructions. {See the recall}

Home Source: Lamps

Home Source has recalled their floor lamps due to a short circuit issue, causing lamps to ultimately pose a fire and shock related hazard to all those who come in contact. About 2,700 containing the brand’s metal floor lamps with an alabaster glass share have been recalled. The model numbers LMP4229, LMP4168 and LMP10771 can be found on the label at the bottom of the lamps. 3 incidents have been reported to the company, but no injuries. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the floor lamps and contact Home Source for more information. {See the recall}
