While the cause of the crash is still under investigation, it is known that one factor that led to many injuries was the bus' lack of seat belts.

A church bus carrying 22 teenagers collided with an SUV and drove off Highway 189 into a ravine near Crestline on Monday, killing the driver of the bus and injuring all of the students on board, some severely. While the cause of the crash is still under investigation, it is known that one factor that led to many injuries was the bus’ lack of seat belts.

As is the case with many buses, the Light of Love Mission Church bus involved in this tragic accident lacked seat belts. In this type of accident, it’s difficult to know how many injuries may have been prevented had the bus been equipped with seat belts. But as with all bus accidents, dozens of people are put at a higher risk of injury due to missing safety restraints. Despite the numerous, multi-injury bus accidents that occur every year, most buses still don’t have seatbelts – including school buses.

The Law Offices of Larry H. Parker sends its condolences to everyone affected by this devastating bus accident.
