A motorcycle accident in Merced County killed a 36-year-old motorcycle rider from Pinole when tires broke off of a trailer and crashed into him. 

The California Highway Patrol reported to the scene on the northbound side of Interstate 5, just north of Canyon Road, following a crash report involving a motorcycle and a semi-truck.

Reportedly, the semi-truck, a 2015 Volvo driven by 56-year-old Ramiro Orozco of Los Angeles, was towing a box trailer in the second northbound lane of Interstate 5. 

Meanwhile, the Pinole motorcyclist was overtaking the truck in the first lane. During this maneuver, two tires came loose from the trailer, hitting the motorcycle.

Consequently, the impact ejected the rider from his motorcycle onto Interstate 5. Despite wearing a helmet, he sustained fatal injuries. Sadly, he succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene.

At present, the authorities said drugs or alcohol do not seem to have played a role in this motorcycle accident in Merced County.
