A school bus was stopped to turn left at an intersection when it was rear-ended and pushed into oncoming traffic, striking another vehicle in Milpitas on the morning of Monday, January 26th. The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Milpitas Boulevard and Washington Street. No one, including the five students on the bus, was seriously injured.

The crash occurred when a minivan driven by a 47-year-old woman failed to yield. The driver mistakenly believed she had a green light and also failed to see the bus. By the time she saw the bus, she was unable to stop. The bus, which was turning left, continued its motion and entered oncoming traffic, where it struck a Lexus, and continued across the intersection before stopping in a nearby front yard.

According to authorities, the severity of the crash was low. The bus driver sustained minor injuries to his hands, but no other injuries were disclosed. The minivan sustained some damage on the front of the vehicle, the bus sustained damage on its rear bumper, and the Lexus had damage to its front bumper as well.
