A 25-year-old Malibu man was killed on the evening of Monday, January 21st, when the vehicle he was riding in overturned after an accident on the 5 Freeway near Bakersfield.

A 25-year-old Malibu man was killed on the evening of Monday, January 21st, when the vehicle he was riding in overturned after an accident on the 5 Freeway near Bakersfield.

According to the California Highway Patrol, around 8:45 PM, the driver of a Toyota vehicle with 4 passengers changed lanes into the path of another car, initiating a collision that caused the Toyota to leave the roadway and overturn. One of the passengers, Jay Ogawa of Malibu, was killed in the accident.

The driver of the Toyota, Eunice Lee of Torrance, suffered minor injuries. The three other passengers, Erica Krakovitch of Los Angeles, Jeanine Wilson of Newport Beach, and Piscilla Fu of Alhambra also suffered injuries. The driver of the other car was not injured.
