The much needed rain that came to Southern California brought with it an increased number of accidents on the freeways Tuesday, December 2nd. According to the California Highway Patrol, 118 collisions occurred between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. yesterday. However, one of the more alarming crashes occurred just outside of that time frame.

Around 3 p.m., a big rig traveling east on the 91 Freeway struck the side rail, leaving the truck dangling off an overpass in Anaheim. The roads below the precariously placed big rig were FasTrak lanes, closing the FasTrak interchanges from the 55 North to the 91 East and the 91 West to the 55 South. Two lanes on the 91 East were also closed after the crash to cleanup spilled fuel and debris.

It is currently unknown how the accident occurred, but CHP suspects that the wet roadway was a major factor.
