An expert hired by General Motors has determined that at least 19 claims of wrongful death related to the recalled ignition switches are eligible for payments from GM. General Motors’ previous estimate was 13, though outside experts believe the number could be in the hundreds.

The GM employed expert has received 125 claims of wrongful death related to the ignition switches so far. The remaining wrongful death cases are still under review. The 19 confirmed cases may not even include the original 13 cases that GM had said were related to the ignition switch. No claims have been rejected yet.

In addition to the 125 death claims being reviewed, an additional 320 claims for injuries are also under evaluation. 12 of these 320 cases have been approved for payments. 58 of these claims are for serious, catastrophic injuries.

Additional claims against GM can still be filed until December 31st. If you or a loved one was injured in a recalled GM vehicle and believe the ignition switch may be to blame, contact The Law Offices of Larry H. Parker today at (800) 333-0000 for a free consultation.
