One person was killed and one person was seriously injured after an explosion at a tanker truck manufacturer in Corona on Wednesday, May 7th. The deceased victim has been identified as Samuel Enciso, 51, of Santa Fe Springs.

The cause of the workplace accident is currently under investigation. The incident occurred inside the facilities of National Distribution Services in Corona. Enciso was among six to ten welders working on a tanker truck when the explosion occurred around 1:50 p.m. The explosion sparked an evacuation of the building, but nearby residential properties did not require evacuation.

Enciso was pronounced dead at the scene. A second worker was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The cause of the explosion is unknown. California Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be leading the investigation and could take up to six months to determine if workplace safety standards were violated.
