In Iowa, a judge has ruled that a woman was eligible for unemployment insurance after resigning from her job because her employer held a degrading contest.

It’s a news story that makes you wonder “Just what was that person thinking!?”. In Iowa, a judge has ruled that a woman was eligible for unemployment insurance after resigning from her job because her employer held a contest, with a $10 prize, for guessing which employee would be the next to be fired.

According to the judge, the “employer’s actions have clearly created a hostile work environment by suggesting its employees turn on each other for a minimal monetary prize.” Many employees quit after they saw the contest memo.
