A crash on the 405 South killed a driver and injured his three passengers after his vehicle struck another vehicle and rolled down an embankment in Los Angeles early Saturday, January 9th. The deceased driver was identified as Erick Reyes, 28, of Inglewood. Reyes was not wearing his seat belt. The crash occurred near the Centinela Avenue exit just after 2 a.m.

According to authorities, Reyes was driving a Lexus sedan south on Interstate 405 at a high rate of speed when he struck a 2006 Mazda sedan driving in the fast lane, causing both vehicles to spin out. The Lexus left the freeway and careened down a dirt embankment, overturning. Reyes was ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Three passengers in the Lexus vehicle sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital. The driver and the passenger in the Mazda were uninjured.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash. They believe that speed is a factor in the incident.
