A crash on the transition between the 60 and 71 freeways killed two and inured a third on the morning of Wednesday, May 22nd. The collision occurred just before 9 a.m. and forced a brief closure of the entire 60 freeway and an extended closure of the transition between the two freeways.

The crash occurred after a tractor-trailer parked on the transition between the eastbound Pomona Freeway and the southbound Chino Valley Freeway in between Pomona and Chino Hills. Sometime later, a pickup truck collided into the tractor portion of the big rig, killing the big rig’s driver, who was outside of his vehicle at the time. The pickup truck’s passenger also died at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was airlifted to a nearby hospital for his injuries.

The freeway transition and rightmost lane of the eastbound 60 were closed to allow authorities to investigate the crash and for roadway cleanup.
