After a potential public relations nightmare, Chrysler Group has agreed to a governmental requested recall of 2.7 million Jeep vehicles. Chrysler continues to disagree with the assessment provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s assertion that the recalled vehicles were prone to gas tank explosions when rear-ended.

The recall affects Jeep Grand Cherokees with model years between 1993 and 2004 and Jeep Liberty vehicles with model years between 2002 and 2007.
