A 9-year-old boy was walking in a crosswalk with his older sister when he was struck by a pickup truck that ran a red light while racing another vehicle in Orange late Thursday, August 6th. Neither vehicle stopped at the scene. The child, identified by family members as Jessie Rosales, later died at the hospital.

The hit-and-run occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of North Glassell Street and Wilson Avenue. According to witnesses, a black pickup truck appeared to be racing another vehicle when they both ran a red light. The black truck struck Rosales in the crosswalk and neither vehicle stopped. Rosales was taken to a local hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

The pickup truck and the other vehicle both crashed a few blocks away at the intersection of North Glassell and Taft Avenue, where two people were arrested under suspicion of vehicular manslaughter. Authorities continue to investigate the crash, but do not suspect alcohol or drugs were a factor. Residents in the area commented that speeding is common on North Glassell.
