In what is sure to be a viral news story, a family cat saved a young boy from a dog attack in Bakersfield on Tuesday, May 13th. The incident was caught on a security camera.

The boy was riding his bicycle in his family’s driveway under his mother’s supervision when a neighbor’s dog runs up to the boy and attacks, biting the boy on the leg. The dog attack stops when the family’s cat rushes the dog and chases it away. The mother reported that the dog continued to remain in the area, biting her when she tried to scare the dog off.

The 4-year-old boy received 10 stitches in the hospital after the attack. The dog in question is currently under voluntary quarantine by its owner. In most cases, the dog’s owner would be liable for any violent incidents. The family cat, Tara, is being lauded as a hero. See Tara in action below.
