Two drivers were critically injured when a big rig crashed into a sedan on the 110 north in San Pedro in the early afternoon of Tuesday, October 14th. The crash occurred around 2:10 p.m. near Gaffey Street and resulted in lane closures on the 110 south and the full closure of the 110 north for several hours.

Details of how the crash occurred are unclear. During the crash, the big rig’s cab separated from its trailer. The sedan was found underneath the trailer, crushed. The big rig’s cab was about 1/4 of a mile down the road and had sustained major damage. Both the truck driver and the car driver were pinned in their vehicles. Dozens of firefighters and paramedics used the jaws of life to remove both drivers.

Once the drivers were removed from their vehicles, they were treated at the scene and rushed to local hospitals. The accident remains under investigation.
