Allegedly, a street racer lost control of the classic Mustang they were driving. They then hit an SUV and the Mustang was cut clear in half. The accident took place in Monrovia, just south of Duarte Road and in the 1900 block of South Myrtle Avenue. Other witnesses described the other racing vehicle as a red racing car, potentially a Chevy Camaro. The driver of the Mustang lost control when at a curve in the road.
A spokesperson for the police said that the Mustang driver was so traveling at such a high speed that he could not take the curve and therefore veered into a northbound lane.
