Top Social Security Lawyers In California
Are you out of work due to a serious illness, injury, or disability? You may qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), or Disabled Widow Benefits (DWB). These programs are designed to provide individuals, just like you, with the supplemental income you need to get back on your feet after a hardship. However, these programs are not as simple as they sound. Claims are subject to a tangle of red tape and restrictions that make it extremely difficult for disabled individuals to prove their own need for benefits. If you want the very best chance of having your Social Security Disability, Supplemental Security Income, or Disabled Widow Benefits approved, you need to get professional help with your application or appeal.

There Are Three Types of Social Security Disability Benefits: SSI, SSDI, and DWB
Social Security Income (SSI) is distributed to people with low income and limited resources who are at least 65 years of age or older, blind, or disabled. Under the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program, Social Security pays benefits to people who are blind or disabled and have enough recent work credits from Social Security taxed wages. Disabled Widow Benefits (DWB) are paid to widows, widowers, or surviving divorced spouses whose marriage lasted 10 years or more, and who are blind or disabled. To be eligible for the DWB program a person must be age 50 or older, and the disability must have started before or within seven years of the working spouse’s death. To be blind or disabled under Social Security standards you must have a medical condition that is expected to result in death or has lasted (or is expected to last) at least one year. Social Security will not pay benefits to people who have a “short-term disability.” Social Security must also find that the person’s medical condition is severe and either (a) meets or equals one of their medical listings, or (b) prevents the person from performing their past work as well as other work that exists in significant numbers in the national economy.
Don’t Make a Mistake That Could Cost You Thousands
Of the roughly 2.5 million Social Security Disability benefit applications made every year, the vast majority will be rejected or delayed due to simple, preventable errors. For example, individuals often:
- Leave out medical details.
- Forget to include a complete work history.
- Make errors in financial information.
- Get dates wrong.
- Use the wrong code numbers or ID numbers.
- Make typos or other errors that make the application hard to process.
When you work with a skilled Social Security Disability attorney from our firm, you don’t have to worry about these kinds of errors costing you time and money. We will make sure your application is accurate and complete before submitting it, so you can get your benefits as quickly as possible. If your claim proceeds to a hearing, you will have an experienced attorney there to prepare you for the hearing and represent you in front of the Administrative Law Judge.
