Losing that hour of sleep can do more than make everyone just a little tired for a week. Turns out that daylight savings can cause an increased risk of injury. There’s a 17% increase in car crash fatalities the Monday after we spring forward and workplace accidents are increased 5.7%.

Be sure to take some extra cautions on the road and in the workplace this week. Two separate studies estimated that the spring forward results in about 40 minutes less sleep. A lack of sleep can cause attention levels to drop, posing a car accident risk and risk of worker injury. By comparison, accident rates do not increase when we fall back to Standard time and gain an hour of sleep.

If you or a loved one has been the victim of a car accident or workplace injury, contact The Law Offices of Larry H. Parker today at (800) 333-0000 for a free consultation. You may be entitled to compensation.
