Authorities continue to investigate a fatal four-car crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu on Saturday, February 7th that has received national attention due to speculation that a celebrity was at fault for the crash. The deceased woman has been identified as Kim Howe, 69. The celebrity, Bruce Jenner, 65, an Olympic gold medalist and reality show star, was uninjured in the crash. The incident occurred around 12:12 p.m. near the intersection of PCH and Corral Canyon Road.

News reports have conflicted greatly as to what actually happened in the crash. What is certain is that the crash began when a Lexus sedan, driven by Howe, struck a Toyota Prius, which was in turn struck by a Cadillac Escalade, driven by Jenner. The secondary collision pushed the Lexus into oncoming traffic, where it was struck by a Humvee. Howe was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Five others were taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

Other details of the crash have been hazy. The stretch of PCH where the crash occurred is a four lane highway with a speed limit of 50 miles per hour. Speculation that Jenner was drunk, on the phone, texting appear to have arisen from standard accident investigation procedure. Speculation that the crash was caused by an attempt to evade paparazzi also appears to be baseless. Liability does not appear to have been officially determined yet.
