At least three people were injured, including a one-year-old, when two vehicles traveling too close together crashed, causing a chain reaction on the morning of Thursday, January 16. The accident occurred at 29th Avenue and McDowell Road in Phoenix.

The collision occurred when a tailgating car rear-ended an SUV, initiating a chain reaction. One of the vehicles in a chain reaction was a truck with a 20-year-old father and his 1-year-old child. Authorities believe that the child safety seat the toddler was in saved the child’s life. The toddler and his father, along with one other victim, were taken to the hospital after the crash.

Lanes on McDowell Road were closed for a time for investigation and cleanup.
