Seven people were injured after a four-vehicle crash, resulting in the overturning of a big rig truck carrying molasses early Wednesday, October 22nd. The accident occurred on the southbound 5 interchange to the westbound 10 around 5:50 a.m.

According to witnesses, the big rig carrying molasses allegedly crashed into a gold Chevy truck and a black SUV. The Chevy truck overturned, as did the big rig. The big rig’s contents then spilled on to the freeway, requiring the closure of the interchange. Traffic in the area is a mess, backed up for miles.

Two of the injury victims were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Five others were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries. It is unknown which injury victims were in which vehicles. Authorities are continuing to investigate the exact cause of the crash.
