Five people were injured after a Chevy Tahoe SUV plowed into a crowd waiting for a dinner table outside of a restaurant in Arizona on Monday, May 25th. One of the injured victims suffered serious head injuries and another may lose a leg. The crash occurred outside of an Oregano’s Pizza Bistro around 6 p.m. in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale.

Authorities are still investigating the crash. According to witnesses, the driver of the SUV was attempting to park in a handicapped spot when he crashed into the victims. The driver of the SUV was wearing a cast on his foot, leading to speculation that the cast may have become stuck and caused unintended acceleration. Police have not ruled out that there the driver was impaired.

The crash created a large hole in the wall of the restaurant. While engineers have found the building structurally sound, the restaurant is closed today for repairs.
