Salmonella outbreaks have prompted Wright County Egg of Galt, Iowa to issue a recall affecting 228 million eggs. The recall affects numerous brands of eggs, including Ralph’s, Albertson, Farm Fresh, Dutch Farms, Kemps, Lund, Shoreland, Trafficanda, Lucerne, Hillandale, Sunshine, Boomsma’s, and Mountain Dairy. The recall affects eggs from three processing plants: P-1026, P-1413, and P-1946. The dates affected by the recall are in Julian format, ranging from 136-225 (from the 136th day of the year to the 225th).

Hundreds of cases of salmonella poisoning have already been confirmed. California alone has reported at least 266 people incidents of salmonella related illness. People infected with the salmonella bacteria can experience bouts of diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and cramping, with the symptoms lasting as long as a week.
