Three passengers on a Long Beach Transit bus were injured after an Audi SUV rear-ended the bus, striking the driver’s side rear corner with enough momentum to deploy the Audi’s airbags late Wednesday, January 21. The crash occurred at a bus stop on Lakewood Boulevard near 23rd Street.

According to authorities, the bus was stopped in the number three lane around 10:35 p.m. for a stop when the Audi crashed into the stationary bus. The bus was carrying ten passengers at the time. Two of the bus passengers were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries. The bus driver and the driver of the Audi refused treatment, against the advice of medical responders. A witness described the SUV as being totaled.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
