A ferry carrying 230 people crashed into a harbor piling, sending passengers tumbling to the ground and sending 10 passengers to the hospital on Sunday, October 12th. The ferry crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. at Pier 41 in San Francisco.

The ferry Peralta was traveling to Oakland Sunday afternoon when the crash happened. Witnesses describe the ferry backing into a wooden piling, sending passengers flying. The injuries suffered seem to be minor, with 10 victims hospitalized for back and neck injuries, cuts and bruises.

Peralta is operated by Blue and Gold Fleet and was removed from service after the crash. Authorities have already determined that the crash was not caused by mechanical failures and has cleared the ferry to return to service. Authorities are currently investigating whether or not drugs or alcohol may have been involved in the crash, which may have been caused by crew error.
