A chain-reaction crash claimed the life of a Fullerton woman, 57, when her vehicle was rear-ended at a high rate of speed on the northbound 57 Freeway Anaheim early Tuesday, May 12th. The crash occurred just after midnight south of South Street.

Four vehicles were involved in the fatal crash. According to authorities, the crash began when an Infiniti rear-ended a truck in the number 5 lane, the lane just left of the slow lane. The Fullerton woman, driving a Chevy Spark, collided with the Infiniti at a slow rate of speed. After the collision, the Spark remained in the number 5 lane. The woman did not turn on her hazard lights.

A fourth vehicle approaching the scene, driving about 65 mph in the number 5 lane, was unable to avoid the already crashed vehicles. The vehicle, a Nissan Frontier, crashed directly into the Spark, killing its driver. No other victims of the crash sustained injury.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident. They do not believe that any of the involved drivers were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
