A dump truck struck a sedan with two occupants stopped on the shoulder of the 210 Freeway in La Verne early Wednesday, June 11th. One man was killed in the crash. A second victim was seriously injured. The collision occurred around 3:20 a.m.

According to authorities, the dump truck was heading east on the 210 when it crashed into a Lexus sedan, which was parked on the right shoulder. Due to the weight of the truck, authorities noted that the impact was severe. It is unknown why the car was on the shoulder.

The driver of the Lexus was killed in the crash. A passenger in the car was taken to USC Medical Center with serious injuries. Authorities are investigating why the sedan was on the shoulder and why the dump truck struck the vehicle. All lanes of the eastbound 210 were closed for investigation and reopened about 5 hours later.
