A Fontana woman suspected of DUI was driving the wrong way on the 60 Freeway at speeds near 100 mph before crashing head-on into an SUV, beginning a chain-reaction crash that killed six early Sunday, February 9th. Olivia Carolee Culbreath, 21, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and felony manslaughter.

Authorities began receiving calls about a wrong-way driver on the 57 freeway, followed by calls about a wrong-way driver on the 60 freeway. Around 4:40 a.m. near Phillips Ranch Road, Culbreath’s Chevy Camaro slammed into a Ford Explorer. The Explorer then hit a Ford Freestyle. The Explorer was cut in half as a result of the impact.

Four victims were pronounced dead at the scene, including two of Culbreath’s passengers. Two victims died later at UC Irvine Medical Center. Culbreath survived the crash and was being questioned by authorities at USC Medical Center.

The 60 freeway was shutdown in both directions for hours for investigation and cleanup.
