A big rig fell off an overpass and caught fire on the morning of Thursday, January 10th after colliding with a pickup truck near Vallejo. Highway 37 was shut down in both directions after the crash.

CHP has indicated that two people were injured in the accident, and warned that the highway could be closed for hours.

The truck fell off the ramp and on to Highway 29, immediately catching fire and causing multiple explosions, according to witnesses. While the cause of the accident isn’t known, it does not appear to be attributed to ice on the roadway.

Tragically, news outlets have reported the truck driver has died from the injuries sustained in the accident after being transported to the local Kaiser hospital.
