Pier 1 Imports issues recall for swinging chairs and stands due to falling hazard
About 276,000 Swingasan Hanging Chairs and Stands were recalled after Pier 1 received 93 reports of the chair with stand becoming unstable and tipping over while in use, resulting in 23 injuries. About 330,000 Rival brand Electric Griddles were recalled after discovery that the heating element could crack, allowing water to enter the unit, posing a shock risk. No incidents or injuries have been reported. The recalled griddles were made in China. See the recall.

About 1,880 Tovin Chairs were recalled after Cost Plus World Market received five reports of the chair legs bending or breaking while in use, posing a fall risk. The recalled chairs were manufactured in Vietnam. See the recall.

School Specialty expands recall for stools due to falling hazard
About 6,000 Classroom Select NeoRok Stools were recalled after School Specialty received nine reports of stools breaking while in use, resulting in at least one concussion injury. 1,350 stools were previously recalled in June of 2015. About 17,000 Steelcase “Rocky” Swivel Chairs were recalled after the company received 311 reports of the screws connecting the seat and back to the base of the chair detaching, resulting in at least one fall injury.
