Hewlett-Packard issues recall for power cords due to fire and burning hazards
Over 6 million HP LS-15 AC Power Cords were recalled after the company received 29 reports of the power cords overheating, resulting in the melting or charring of the product. The incidents have included 2 reports of burn injuries and 13 reports of property damage. The power cords were distributed with HP and Compaq notebook and mini notebook computers. About 233,500 Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner / Heat Pump (PTAC) Units with brand names of Amana, Century, Comfort-Aire, Goodman, and York International were recalled by their respective companies after Goodman received five reports of the power cords smoking or catching fire.
