A three-vehicle crash in Santa Ana involving an Orange County Transit Authority bus sent seven bus passengers and two involved drivers to the hospital on the evening of Tuesday, June 3rd. The collision occurred at the intersection of West 17th Street and North Fairview Street around 10:15 p.m.

According to authorities, Edgar Estrada, 23, was traveling on Fairview when he ran a red light, striking an OCTA bus traveling northbound on 17th. The bus was subsequently pushed into a truck towing a trailer. The bus ended up on the sidewalk, while Estrada’s car and the involved truck were both overturned.

At least seven bus passengers and the bus driver were taken to local hospitals for their injuries. Six other bus passengers sustained minor injuries. Estrada himself sustained moderate injuries and was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center. Estrada was suspected to be driving under the influence at the time of the crash.
