A 23-year-old man is dead after a wrong-way driver on Interstate 5 in Sacramento hit his Toyota Corolla head-on early in the morning of Thursday, June 20th.

A 23-year-old man is dead after a wrong-way driver on Interstate 5 in Sacramento hit his Toyota Corolla head-on early in the morning of Thursday, June 20th. The victim was identified as Sanching Saetern of Sacramento.

Around 2 a.m., a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling south on the northbound side of Interstate 5 when it collided with Saetern’s Corolla. Authorities describing the condition of the Corolla after the crash said it looked like the Corolla exploded.

The driver of the Jetta has not been identified, but was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Five occupants inside an SUV that was also involved in the crash escaped serious injury. Authorities are investigating if the Jetta’s driver was under the influence or he or she intentionally caused the crash.
