After 6 children were killed by toppling dressers, Ikea has decided to recall 29 million of their MALM 6-drawer chests.

With recalls we usually see two things occur: 1) Companies will discontinue selling an item moving forward, 2) Companies will ask consumers to return the item for replacement or repair to reduce the dangers of using that particular product. After 6 children were killed by toppling dressers, Ikea has decided to recall 29 million of their MALM 6-drawer chests.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall back in 2015 (https://www.cpsc.gov) but at the time customers were asked to use repair kits and not return the drawers.  Ikea is now actively working with the CPSC on tip over protection and innovations to enhance product safety for all of their drawers and dressers.
