An on-duty motorcycle officer with the Covina Police Department was killed in a crash with an SUV that was turning left in Covina on Tuesday, September 30th. The crash occurred around 2 p.m. at the intersection of Citrus Avenue and East Puente Street. The officer has been identified as Jordan Corder, 28. Corder had been with the Covina Police Department since 2007 and had recently joined the traffic division.

According to authorities, Corder was traveling south on Citrus when an SUV traveling north attempted to turn left onto East Puente. The SUV was driven by a 75-year-old woman, the sole occupant of the vehicle. The SUV sustained heavy damage to its front end, and the driver was treated for her injuries at the scene.

The motorcycle crash remains under investigation. Witnesses say that Corder was traveling at a high rate of speed while following a different speeding motorcycle.
