Over the weekend, two Ford Mustangs and a Chevy Camaro blocked traffic on the Bay Bridge by doing “doughnuts” in the middle of the highway. CHP officers waited at the end of the bridge to make their arrests. Both Mustang drivers were arrested, one for speeding and the other for suspicion of reckless driving and street racing.

A witness recorded the illegal racing, showing both cars driving erratically amidst traffic blocking all westbound lanes. San Francisco Area Commander, Christopher Sherry, offered the following statement:

“A recklessly driven vehicle is a deadly weapon. If one chooses to drive recklessly, they could be jailed, be fatally injured, or take someone’s life; perhaps the life of someone they love. The majority of the motoring public does not think this type of behavior, specifically shutting down freeways and bridges is acceptable.”

Reckless driving puts innocent people at risk of being involved in an auto accident. Pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and passengers in other vehicles can be affected by the reckless driving as well. Most reckless drivers will knowingly speed, weave between lanes, and even block traffic by attempting stunts like “doughnuts”.

Victims who are involved in an accident caused by reckless driving should seek full and proper medical attention in order to fully recover. Unfortunately, not all accident victims can afford full medical treatment.  Our experienced car accident attorneys have helped our clients:
