An accident in Carlsbad resulted in a severe car crash, injuring a family of four early Thursday, January 31st.

An accident in Carlsbad resulted in a severe car crash, injuring a family of four late Wednesday, January 30th. All four family members were hospitalized.

Witnesses claim an SUV driving eastbound on Palomar Airport Road collided with a Honda Civic that ran a red light at Innovation Way around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday evening. The SUV t-boned the Civic and spun out. The Civic was driven by a woman and occupied by her daughter in the passenger seat and two grandchildren in the back seat. The adults were taken to Scripps La Jolla and the children were airlifted to Children’s Hospital, one of whom had a potential head injury. The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Witnesses tended to the injured at the scene, attempting to calm the children as much as possible.
