A car accident in Manteca along Highway 120, westbound east of Van Ryn Avenue left four people fatal, including an infant.
A car accident in Manteca resulted in the death of four people, including a child less than a year old, on Saturday night.
California Highway Patrol reported the crash occurring roughly at 10 p.m., along the westbound Highway 120, just past Van Ryn Avenue.
Reportedly, a 2011 Toyota Sienna was moving west on Highway 120 at a speed between 60 and 65 mph. The driver, for an unexplained reason, lost command of the vehicle.
Consequently, the Sienna hit the center median and continued into the grassy median dividing the highway’s eastbound and westbound lanes. Then, it became airborne, crossing the underpass of Van Ryn Avenue, before colliding with the overpass, overturning and igniting.
Police confirmed a total of seven people were traveling in the vehicle.
Fortunately, Good Samaritans at the scene managed to pull four children from the burning car. They were three kids aged six to 14 and an infant. Sadly, one six-year-old girl sustained severe injuries and required immediate hospitalization.
Regrettably, two adults and two children, including the driver and the infant, did not survive. Unfortunately, they were pronounced dead at the crash site.
At this point, the role of drugs or alcohol in this fatal car accident in Manteca remains uncertain.
