A big rig carrying 20 tons of meat overturned on Highway 14 in Santa Clarita in the morning hours of Tuesday, May 21st, causing significant traffic delays. The accident occurred around 4:10 a.m. south of Sand Canyon.

According to authorities, the big rig drifted into the lane of an auto that had stopped because of a flat tire. The two vehicles collided, causing significant damage and the semi truck to overturn. The drivers of both the big rig and the auto were injured in the crash.

Two southbound lanes were closed after the crash. Traffic remains backed up for miles at the time of this posting.
