Both drivers were seriously injured in a two-car, suspected DUI head-on collision on Highway 166 (West Main Street) between Santa Maria and Guadalupe on the evening of Monday, November 30th. The crash occurred on the rural, two-lane highway around 8 p.m. near Bonita School Road.

According to authorities, the crash occurred when an eastbound Toyota Camry, driven by Jonathan Noyola Santos, drifted into the westbound lane, striking a Lincoln sedan traveling west. The driver of the Lincoln, identified as Patricia Estrada, 51, or Santa Maria, was airlifted to Cottage Hospital in nearby Santa Barbara with serious injuries. Santos was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.

Authorities suspect that Santos was driving under the influence when he crashed into Estrada. The incident remains under investigation.
