A 65-year-old woman driving a Smart Car was seriously injured when a suspected drunk driver swerved into her lane and causing a head-on collision in Temecula on the evening of Thursday, October 1st.

A 65-year-old woman driving a Smart Car was seriously injured when a suspected drunk driver swerved into her lane and causing a head-on collision in Temecula on the evening of Thursday, October 1st. The crash occurred near the intersection of De Portola Road and Anza Road around 6:00 p.m.

According to authorities, Jerome Edward Kenan, 68, of Temecula, was driving west on De Portola Road at around 55 miles per hour when his 2013 Lexus SUV swerved into oncoming traffic. A woman driving an ultra-compact 2013 Smart Car in the opposite direction had no time to react before Kenan crashed into her vehicle head-on.

The driver of the Smart Car was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in nearby Wildomar with serious injuries. Kenan was treated for minor injuries and arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence and causing great bodily injury in the commission of a felony.
