A man was killed after his vehicle was struck by a teenage driver street racing through Rancho Cucamonga on the afternoon of Thursday, September 3rd. The victim has been identified as Julio C. Lopez, 46, of Pomona. The crash occurred around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Rochester Avenue and Jersey Boulevard. One of the drivers involved was arrested and authorities are seeking the other driver.

According to authorities and surveillance, two black Ford Mustangs were racing south on Rochester Avenue. Lopez was driving a 2010 Nissan Altima when he attempted to make a left turn onto Rochester from Jersey Boulevard. One of the Mustangs slammed into the Altima. Lopez was taken to a nearby hospital, but later died from his injuries.

The driver of the Mustang that struck Lopez, a 16-year-old from Rancho Cucamonga, remained at the scene and was arrested under suspicion of vehicular manslaughter. Authorities are seeking the second street racer, believed to be a black man in his early 20s driving a 2000 to 2003 black Ford Mustang with a hood scoop.
